Michigan And Notre Dame Football Teams Are For Real

It’s Saturday afternoon and I am watching a great football game between Notre Dame and Michigan.  Both football programs have struggled in recent years. And Michigan is reeling right now from the controversy raised by former and current players about potential NCAA violations.  But this post isn’t about any of that.  This is just about these two football teams. First Weekend Of College Football Is Done.

Ok, so the 2009 first weekend of College Football is complete and what do we know at this point?  Well, it really is too early to say that we really know anything at all.  But like everyone else I’ve got a few observations after watching several games and way too much Sports Center. (more…)

Michigan Coach Rodriguez…..I’m not buying it!

I saw the clips of the press conference with Michigan Coach Rich Rodriguez in response to the allegations by former and current players that Michigan went way beyond NCAA rules for practice or workout times, during both the season and off season.  I’m sorry, but I just didn’t buy his response.

Word Is That Favre Is An Issue In The Vikings Locker Room

Listening to the swirl and skimming the Internet, rumors (not confirmed of course) abound that Brett Favre has become an issue in the locker room at Minnesota.  That the combination of support for the other contenders for the leadership position of this football team AND Brett’s appearing knack for not having to participate in all of preseason camp, is creating some strife among the team. Puking Quarteback Now To Play College Football For His Dad

If you happen to know Riley Dodge, it’s probably as the high school quarterback who threw up on the field before throwing a touchdown pass in the 2006 Texas 5A high school football championship game.   Now he is going to try and get fame at the college football level, but for different reasons.

Georgia Football Coach Mark Richt Too Nice To Win The BCS?

I was listening to ESPN talk radio and they were interviewing Coach Richt from UGA.  Now you football nuts out there know that I’m a Bulldog, I bleed red and black and will never deny it.  So you have the right to take everything I say concerning Bulldog Football with a grain of salt.  But anyway, I digress.  On ESPN, during the interview they brought up the idea that has been thrown around that Coach Richt is “too nice”  to win a BCS Championship.  They even asked Richt his thoughts on it.

Syracuse Has A New Point Guard, I Mean Quarterback For Their 2009 Football Team

For those of you football nuts who also follow basketball, you may recognize the name Greg Paulus.  He playrbaed point guard for Mike Krzyzewski at Duke the last four years.  And he is now the starting quarterback for the Syracuse Orangemen.  Wow that’s quite a change up.

Brett Favre–Make Up Your Mind, Retire Or Get In The Game

Ok so I’m listening to a story about Brett Favre today and I’m about as tired of hearing about Brett as I am of hearing about Michael Vick.   Rumors continue to swirl.   Word is that he will in fact report to the Vikings, but doesn’t want to to preseason camp.  What??  Are you kidding me?? Come on Brett enough is enough.

A Football Injury Is A Good Thing?

I was listening to ESPN talk radio this week and Merril Hoge (former NFL fullback) was on the show and talking about Tom Brady coming back from his knee injury.  And then he made an interesting observation that I’m not sure I agree with, but it made for some interesting debate. He said that based on his experience in the NFL, that the constant pounding that the body took definitely had a big impact over the years, especially players like running backs and quarterbacks.  Then he said that the injury may have been the best thing to ever happen to Brady.  Your reaction probably was like mine. “What are you talking about?” I thought to myself.  Read on to see…

Why All The Talk About Vick And The Eagles?

I know you think I am crazy for even making that the title of this post.  But bear with me a minute.  I have enjoyed all the raging debate last night and today.  Why the Eagles?  Should he even be let back in?  Is this a second chance or wasn’t he really doing tons of things wrong for a long time?  And everything that I’ve heard has been interesting with good questions and good debates.  But there is one question that hasn’t seemed to get the same level of interest and that really bothers me.
