That Cold NFL Super Bowl Thing

There has been so much written and talked about the last week or so as it relates to the Super Bowl potentially being awarded to New York/New Jersey.  And now it’s a reality.  My question is this.  Other than the media, are there that many people who really care strongly about this? (more…)

Tim Tebow: First Round Draft Pick?

I’ve never been a huge Tim Tebow fan.  Now part of this comes from the fact that I am a Georgia Bulldog fan and 4 years of him kicking out butts was enough.  But even outside of that, while he seems to be a really fine young man, and there is no doubt that he is a winner on the field, I just never thought that he was “the greatest college football ever” as he was billed to be so much by the media.  But now he is a first round draft pick and I’ve been giving that some thought. (more…)

Was The NFL’s Six Game Suspension For Big Ben Too Much?

When I first heard the news that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was suspending Ben Roethlisberger for 6 games, I have to admit I was stunned.  I figured 2-4 games max, but I never dreamed it would be 6 games.  So that now begs the question,  “Based on the circumstances, was this deserved or too much?” (more…)

What A Terrible Tragedy… Death Of A Young Football Player

I normally don’t write much about this kind of thing, but as a father of four, this story just tore my heart out.  Last week, a promising life and football career were cut short on a spring break trip to the beach.  (more…)

Football Players, Excuse Me, Athletes Out Of Control

As the saga of Ben Roethlisberger drags on, I am starting to think that Roger Goodell isn’t going far enough in his attempts to bring NFL players in line.  And if you look at the other sports, football is not by itself by a long stretch. (more…)

Florida’s Football Coach Should Have Taken More Time Off

I just heard where Florida Coach Urban Meyer went off on a reporter from the Orlando Sentinel.  Now my first reaction was that he probably deserved it.  I’m not keen on most local sports reports.  But then I read the article and heard a recording of the interchange.  Now I’ve never been a huge Meyer fan (nothing to do with my Dawgs!), but this clinched it for me.  Urban Meyer is a great coach who is way too full of himself and I have no use for him. (more…)

Does College Football Need Roger Goodell?

After reading about the suspension of Oregon Heisman Trophy contending quarterback,  Jeremiah Masoli, I started thinking about the increase in these types of incidents in college football over the last few years. And it is starting to appear that the NCAA has a problem and better get a handle on it now. (more…)

These Three Quarterbacks In Philly, What’s Up With That Football Fans?

The Philadelphia Eagles made a step towards keeping Michael Vick for the upcoming season recently.  Vick was due a$1.5 million dollar bonus or the Eagles would have to release him.  They paid it and now there is a lot of talk about what Eagles management is thinking with Vick, McNabb, and Kolb on the roster. And it’s a pretty good question. (more…)

When Will These Football Players Learn?

Ben Roethlisberger is in the news again for problems with the police over an alleged sexual assault charge.  Last year he was accused by a woman of an incident in 2008 at Lake Tahoe.  Charges were dropped but Ben ended up paying the woman $100,000 and issuing a public apology.  Now there will be plenty of opinions on both sides of this one and I’ve got one as well. The NFL Draft Is Not Far Away

Well it’s that time of year when Football Nuts are almost in complete withdrawel pains.  The Super Bowl is a memory, next year is month’s away….what are you going to do for football?  Well many football fans really start to focus on the NFL Draft.  In fact I have been amazed at the attendance and also the television coverage of the draft these days.
