Brett Favre–Make Up Your Mind, Retire Or Get In The Game
Ok so I’m listening to a story about Brett Favre today and I’m about as tired of hearing about Brett as I am of hearing about Michael Vick. Rumors continue to swirl. Word is that he will in fact report to the Vikings, but doesn’t want to to preseason camp. What?? Are you kidding me?? Come on Brett enough is enough.
First, your owe it to your fans, your family, and your potential teammates to get in or get out. This constant back and forth, maybe I will, maybe I won’t is wearing thin for a lot of people. Ultimately it is also hurting your legacy (I know I kind of hate that word also).
I have always loved watching Brett play. Even though I wasn’t a Packers or a Jets fan, he was just plain fun to watch. Gutsy, hard working, a gambler, and a guy who made things happen. My only regret was that the Falcons let him get away.
But I’m getting tired of the Favre merry go round. There comes a time for a player, even a great player to retire and stay with it. I know all the talk of being a competitor and loving the game and all of that. And I don’t date that those things are true. But when you don’t know when to let it go, it starts to look like you need the fame and accolades just a little too much.
And as for the training camp thing, I just hope that’s not true. Because if it is, I just lost a ton of respect for him. A guy his age needs to get in shape, maybe even more than the young guys. And how will his team learn to trust him and follow him? It won’t be during the regular season. Just look at what happened at the end of last year when the Jets hit the skids. Finger pointing, fixing blame, etc.
Come on Brett. Get in or get out and decide the way you played the game. Decisively and aggressively.
