Footballs Wide Receivers; Just Divas Or Worth The Drama

Michael Crabtree’s holdout from the San Franciso 49ers got me to looking at the wide receivers in the NFL recently.  These guys are more and more hitting the top of the draft board and the big bucks that come with that.   And there is a crop of big, strong, and fast wide receivers that are [...]

Michigan And Notre Dame Football Teams Are For Real

It’s Saturday afternoon and I am watching a great football game between Notre Dame and Michigan.  Both football programs have struggled in recent years. And Michigan is reeling right now from the controversy raised by former and current players about potential NCAA violations.  But this post isn’t about any of that.  This is just about [...]

First Weekend Of College Football Is Done.

Ok, so the 2009 first weekend of College Football is complete and what do we know at this point?  Well, it really is too early to say that we really know anything at all.  But like everyone else I’ve got a few observations after watching several games and way too much Sports Center.

Michigan Coach Rodriguez…..I’m not buying it!

I saw the clips of the press conference with Michigan Coach Rich Rodriguez in response to the allegations by former and current players that Michigan went way beyond NCAA rules for practice or workout times, during both the season and off season.  I’m sorry, but I just didn’t buy his response.

Listening to the swirl and skimming the Internet, rumors (not confirmed of course) abound that Brett Favre has become an issue in the locker room at Minnesota.  That the combination of support for the other contenders for the leadership position of this football team AND Brett’s appearing knack for not having to participate in all [...]

Puking Quarteback Now To Play College Football For His Dad

If you happen to know Riley Dodge, it’s probably as the high school quarterback who threw up on the field before throwing a touchdown pass in the 2006 Texas 5A high school football championship game.   Now he is going to try and get fame at the college football level, but for different reasons.

Georgia Football Coach Mark Richt Too Nice To Win The BCS?

I was listening to ESPN talk radio and they were interviewing Coach Richt from UGA.  Now you football nuts out there know that I’m a Bulldog, I bleed red and black and will never deny it.  So you have the right to take everything I say concerning Bulldog Football with a grain of salt.  But [...]

For those of you football nuts who also follow basketball, you may recognize the name Greg Paulus.  He playrbaed point guard for Mike Krzyzewski at Duke the last four years.  And he is now the starting quarterback for the Syracuse Orangemen.  Wow that’s quite a change up.

Brett Favre–Make Up Your Mind, Retire Or Get In The Game

Ok so I’m listening to a story about Brett Favre today and I’m about as tired of hearing about Brett as I am of hearing about Michael Vick.   Rumors continue to swirl.   Word is that he will in fact report to the Vikings, but doesn’t want to to preseason camp.  What??  Are you kidding me?? [...]

A Football Injury Is A Good Thing?

I was listening to ESPN talk radio this week and Merril Hoge (former NFL fullback) was on the show and talking about Tom Brady coming back from his knee injury.  And then he made an interesting observation that I’m not sure I agree with, but it made for some interesting debate. He said that [...]
